Cat
By Christina Andreakis 3D
Silently stalking their victim of prey
hunters by night, sleepers by day.
Silently stalking that bird or a mouse
ready to spring, ready to pounce.
He’s taken those claws, as sharp as a spur
ready to rip at feathers or fur.
Quick as a cheetah, a silent creeper
pounces on mouse in his tiny house.
Picks it up from the floor,
scoots to the door.
Owner arrives, makes stunned eyes, opens the door
cat drops mouse on the floor.
Now cat is thinking: praise awaits, lots of cuddles,
extra food on my plate.
