Mind Over Mortality

It was once said
"I should be enjoying my youth, not contemplating my mortality"
But still I easily obsess over remembrance
Will my death earn me a memorial, a tombstone
Perhaps associated memories, or nothing at all
Yes, I think of how others are remembered and my mind is for now at ease
But then I see the wilted flowers, the faded skid marks, the echoes of ghosts
And I realize - no
I will not be forgotten
For I am not worth remembering
