“Hurry!” they yelled,
I packed all of what I could,
my two children petrified and scared,
“Ma’am hurry!”
I held my babies close,
screams echoed throughout the streets,
smoke filled the air,
“Ma’am hurry!”
As we drove my heart sank,
seeing all I had ever known;crumbled and broken,
I felt my children’s tears fall upon my skin.
“Ma’am hurry!”
They ripped my children from my loving arms.
Tears streaming, my heart in my throat,
I held their hands for a final second.
“Ma’am hurry!”
