‘Carpe Diem’* the Roman sergeant shouted
Running toward the battlefield
He grabbed his trusted horse and mounted
As a soldier handed him his sword and shield
‘Carpe Diem’* the Latin sergeant shouted
As he lead his army to war
He charged towards them and as he counted
The number of soldiers maimed and gored
‘Carpe Diem’* the Latin sergeant shouted
As he laid on the ground stuck with swords
He looked up to see his son undoubted
‘Carpe Diem’ the Latin sergeant whispered with his last words
‘Neque Carpe Diem’* the son shouted calling off the war
The pain and suffering all around made the son think
And though the enemy wasn’t sure
The son saved lives that day and brought life back from the brink
