Finalist in the 'Word Zone 2016' competition
Red spilled all over the world,
Hearts poured out, become unfurled,
Soldiers gone, now they rest,
Never home from their quest,
Scarlet stained their uniform,
Sadness spreading like a storm,
So many countless lives lost,
This is what the winning cost,
Widows alone begin to weep,
Thinking of them, in hearts of deep,
They all died a death of young,
We salute them with heads hung,
Beyond the wrath and the tears,
Away from harm of the years,
All soldiers, all the brave,
Deeds follow to their grave.
