In the tranquillity of the sweeping golden plain,
Where the sea of grass swishes contentedly in the breeze,
See a colt galloping about like a lord, tossing its flaxen mane.
He flies past, legs a blur, like a speeding bullet train-
Hooves kissing the dry ground, he plummets past trees.
His lustrous chestnut coat shimmers in the glaring sun,
He is a tsunami; clouds of dust billow in his tenacious wake.
In freedom, the horse streaks like a lightning bolt having fun.
His mane and tail behind like streamers, he continues his run.
He rockets on thunderously, seemingly without a brake.
Acknowledge the affection in those sparkling lapis eyes,
Reflecting the fiery sunset glow from the fading daylight.
He loves his home in the flourishing land of the free and its skies,
Adoration for his herd, sire and dam suddenly begins to rise.
Safe and feeling wonderfully alive, he leaps in blissful delight.
