Finalist in the 'Word Zone 2016' competition
The waves crashed against the pale harbour walls
The spray was littered upon the sharp, fresh, sea air
The clouds were smothering the distant grey moon
When a new light shone out, a flame on the seaside mist
The flame bobbed wildly upon the crests of violent waves
The water glistened gloriously around the shadowed figure
The pitch blackness shifted like a living creature
Lightning struck and what I saw was a massive pirate galleon
The galleon inched ever closer, the ship in plain sight now
The air was taut with foreboding silence
The thoughts in my head turned to fear
And then the pirates struck
The guards were scrambling
The farmers were fleeing
The town folk were screaming
And the pirates let loose their battle cries
