Midnight creeps amidst the untaken road,
A pearly-white glow delicately bestowed,
But something lurks in the hedge aside,
A black shadow somewhat minute in size.
A rustle is heard followed by footsteps on gravel,
Two lovebirds are left standing for the night to unravel.
Is it a sublime rendezvous or perhaps a mishap?
A scent of secret forever entrapped.
Then suddenly a mist of black appears unseen, ?amber eyes left oblivious to the duo against the jade-green,
Fur satin-black like the colour of night,
It’s mind diligent enough to cause a fright.
A soft meow echoes the charcoal hours of darkness,
Ears perked high and tail swishing about,
The well-concealed secret now sprouts out,
And as the slice of moon glistens from above, the cat is well out of the bag …
