Gold is the colour of the sun rise on my hat
Gold is the medals I earn in battle
Gold is how I feel when we win
Gold is the sandy battlefield I fought on

Gold is the coins I sent home
Gold is how I feel going to bed
Gold is the bugle I play in the morning
Gold is the sun I wake to

Gold is the bullet I shot at the enemies
Gold was the bullet that struck me down
Gold is the sandy graveyard I was left in
Gold is the memory they hold at home
