Necessary Evils

How can there possibly be,
A winner in this never-ending cycle of misery?
A champion in how many bullets they’ve shot,
In our many loved ones we’ve lost?
Its different because they’re the bad guys,
This is how we defend our country’s pride.
Its different because this is a necessary evil,
This is the price we pay for our freedom.
And this is how we’ve justified war,
The guns and shootings and all.
But there are no winners in violence,
Despite our leaders’ defiance.
Because we need humanity to have humans,
Our world without peace is one no one will thrive in.
No nation,
Is rich enough to pay for both war and civilisation.
