That Stormy Unday Night

That Stormy Sunday Night
By Joshua Paratore
As I set my alarm clock for seven in the morning for school tomorrow, I turn off my light hop into bed Frozen by the bed sheets I curl up into a ball turn on my heat blanket. I lay in the dark silent room with a glimmer of light through the window, is was a full moon.As I turn to my side my feet are cold as ice cubes I jump out of bed to feel like my feet were about to fall off from the cold wooden floor I turn on the light and open my draw I grab my woolliest socks that my grandma knitted me for my 11th birthday.

As I hopped back in to my bed not being frozen by the sheets but feeling as if the warm sun was shining down on me keeping warm, as I lay in the darkness alone but quite warm from my heat blanket I look out the window still seeing the glimmer of light coming from the moon. As I begin to feel my eyes feel heavy I begin to close them I lay again in the cold dark room alone with nothing to disturb me………..then all of a sudden out of nowhere I hear thunder as if a giants stomach was growling for his lunch, I open my eyes as if it like a bullet from a gun I wait. Again I hear growling thunder with a flash of light a spit second after it, another two light flashes of lightning comes as if it was a street light

I sit up praying for rain in silence, after all we haven’t had rain since December and we are in June now. As I sit in silence I hope for rain as I jump up out of my bed and run to the window I look up and see a drop of rain sliding down my window then more rain pellets hitting then window sound I look up and see rain racing down like bullets pelting down as if it was a war. As more lightning flashes at the speed of light and the thunder roars I begin to see thick white pieces of rain falling down as I realise its ice I realise I’m freezing as I walk to my light to turn it on, nothing happens, I flick it again, nothing happens, the power had gone out I turn around to look out the window seeing my next door neighbour grabbing his bird and its cage struggling to bring it inside to keep it out of the rain

As I turn to my bed I jump in to it to feel safe and warm by the warm sheets, I lay in the dark room listening to the pattern of the rushing rain I felt tired as I close my eyes slowly I feel calm knowing that tomorrow will be great as I’m just about to fall asleep I realize I have a test tomorrow that I haven’t studied for.
