I laced up my boots, all shiny and new
We raced onto the field as the ref gave the cue
I took my position all ready to begin
This was my chance, I was going to win
The whistle blew, the game had begun
I took off on a magnificent run
The ball at my feet, I ran so well
The defenders were stunned, I could tell
I was ready to shoot, the goal was in sight
I took a big kick using all of my might
The goalie was in shock
He did not move to try and block
A goal in the first minute, we were one-nil up
I am a star, I’m on my way to the world cup
Not a single cheer did I get
Oh my goodness I just put it in my own net!
