A land of humidity across the plains,
A scorching yellow ball drifting through the sky,
The ground of fissure, barren and dry,
A country of freedom, with no chains.
Desolate, besides a pouched mammal bouncing by,
A grand grey bird who cannot fly,
Silhouettes in the distance, struggling to flee,
Invaders taking them, captivity.
An island home to a colossal stone,
Painted with ochre's thick coat of maroon,
The arid yellow plains on which I stand,
This is all Australian land.
