They tell you what to do, who to love, what to wear,
Even if the sadness leaves you broken and in despair.
They tell you to be skinnier, to be thinner,
Even if you have to go to bed without dinner.
They set you a path that you must follow,
Even if it makes you feel empty and hollow.
Never would they understand that you are different,
That you are unique, that you are significant.
You don’t want to love him, you want to love her,
You don’t want to wear pants, because that is not what you prefer.
You are alone in a world that does not understand you,
You are alone and have no one to confide to.
Now you must collect your own courage and strength,
To choose your own road for your soul's full depth and length.
