Mistake
We travelled under the midday sun,
Surely we were about to have fun?
The holiday cabin was in the eucalypt wood,
How could this place be misunderstood?
It was suppose to be a spectacalur time
We ended up tasting bitterness like lime.
The sky turned into an abyss of black,
Then lightning let off an almighty smack!
I could smell the burning flames,
Oh, how I needed water to tame.
I wanted to scream but smoke filled my thirsty lungs,
In the far distance, I heard the siren rung.
I tried to breathe, my eyes were burning,
My heart heavy and thoughts in my head were churning.
The Australian bush was smouldering in the haze,
I wondered if I was going to escape this treacherous maze?
