In the arid desert
Where riches were found
The people were thirsty
But water was bound

Until CY O’Connor
Made a skilful invention
A long, steel pipe
And a water pumping station

From Mundaring to Kalgoorlie
The far-reaching link
Flows water to Goldfield
Giving people a drink

But clever O’Connor
Never saw his creation
He died before water
Reached its destination.
