The roof’s over my head,
I’m safe behind my bed,
Every step I took,
I always remembered to look,
For unseen secrets were lurking in the night.
And when it was dark,
They crept from behind.
They had haunting faces, their voices were death defying,
With every step they took, they inched closer.
My sister said that they were always a blur
But when I look over my shoulder,
Their silhouettes creep into curtains of darkness.
But when I was under my covers
And everything was quiet, I noticed they were gentle creatures,
That no one could find,
In the light of the night.
