Excellence Award in the 'Write Here Write Now 2017' competition
Glistening sapphire water cascades from my waterfall,
Each and every bird follows my call.
The palm trees sway to the symphony of the air,
Where I can do anything without a care.
Hiking near the perilous treasure trove,
While the dolphins play near the cove.
The gleaming stones live near the sand,
And the rusty sailboat, that I once manned.
Swimming long lengths in the sea to cool down,
Treading near the beaches where I can see town.
Caught dragonflies with my rope net,
For a moment I was sure I would never forget.
Every evening I dream,
Of my island and its scorching summer steam.
And in winter, its snow as frozen as ice,
My magnificent, wonderful paradise.
