The Yellow Bicycle

A lemon yellow frame, attached to large rubber wheels
With a straw basket completing her gift
At least some hope of her life staying the same
Within the chaos unfolding around her
The bicycle travelled through the square
A ray of sunshine against the ashy grey bricks
The portraits of the man with the black moustache
Chilling her body with his piecing dark eyes
She stopped in front of the house of intellect
And snatched the leaflets from the basket
Placing her hand on her heart
She touched
The symbol of freedom
The promise of justice
The white rose
Her name was Sophie Scholl
