Excellence Award in the 'Write Here Write Now 2017' competition
The sounds of their melodious singing and cooing
Wake me up in the morning bright.
Their feathers so many different shades and tones.
Their eyes are like beads
Shining and gleaming the sunlit sky.
They collect the twigs and sticks
To make their tree homes.
Keeping them in cages is not a bright idea
When they still have a big world around them to explore.
They beat their wings and flap around,
Venturing around the land.
When dusk falls, they fly back home
To see their family and friends.
The moon smiles to the birds,
And the birds smile back.
