Letter To A Friend

I'd like to introduce you
to my ex-best-friend's ex's music.
I think you'd like it; it's obscure, kinda sad,
lonely (like me)
but beaucitul (like you).
The first time I heard it I cried. Maybe it was
the lyrics, or maybe it was hayfever
(but you weren't there that morning, so that could've been it too).
I'd like to pick you up
in my red beetle
(which I don't have yet, but maybe will by Christmas).
Hand on the horn (nails plain, not black like yours),
foot on the brake in Campbell's-soup-print shoes.
Perhaps I'd tell you you're a work of art
and you'd paint my skin in brishlike strokes of affection
as I drove you to school.
