A Day In The Holocaust

I was running through the woods, bullets raining down around me,
I was stumbling with branches hitting my face so I couldn’t see,
I could hear soldiers shouting at me in a foreign language,
This was a day of the Holocaust.
I was hiding in the streets, foraging for food,
When I heard the Nazi’s I knew I was being pursued,
So I dropped everything and ran,
This was a day of the Holocaust.
I was on a train on the way to a death camp,
I fell out of a hole in the train onto some grass that was damp,
I was being shot at from all around,
This was a day of the Holocaust.
I escaped the war with memories that haunt my dreams,
I still wake up thinking I’m hearing screams,
Wars scar everyone for life, they should never happen,
This is after the Holocaust.
