A Different Worls

I always thought I’d thrive in a different world.
A world in which one’s actions mirror their emotions and beliefs,
Where the eyes of those around do not trap us in their ideals
Where we can cry at what we think melancholic, without hiding behind a superficial smile.
And we laugh at what truly amuses us.
A world in which no social expectations confine us,
In which skinny doesn’t mean pretty,
Makeup isn’t worn as a mask
But we wear our blemishes with pride and realise that our flaws make us unique
And we hold our chins high and accept our scars and stretchmarks
Where Photoshop does not rule our expectations
Or fashion - our bank accounts
A world in which people saw the person before the Gucci purse
Where one can speak with a voice heard by all
Were ignorance is the enemy
I think I’d do better in a world like this.
