The ghost of light glistens over a black lake,
The feeling of hurt he just can’t shake.
The freckled moon peers down, cold and lonely.
He wants to reverse it, thinking “If only?”
But the past can't be changed, nor the future read,
So those feelings he once felt lay dead.
He looks over the glassy pond,
Feeling betrayed, alone and conned.
A pair of owls coo in their nest,
Two stray dogs harmonise, singing their best.
And he spies two swans nestled nearby,
And realises his love for her could never die.
