Poetry holds a certain magic,
that when I write
its spark transcends the paper
and crawls through my skin,
ignites the marrow in my bones and
settles in my beating heart
until I hear the words
with every steady thump.
The magic of writing has made a home inside of me;
because when we first collided
the dark parts of my soul, and
the weathered parts of my mind
were touched,
and all of those painful places transformed -
everywhere the magic touched
watercolour flowers began to grow.
