The day she turns fifteen,
Her journey of womanhood begins.
For all that she has seen,
It’s time to dismiss her sins.
It begins with formality,
Leading into a celebration.
Greeted with traditional hospitality,
At her choice of location.
Handing her doll to her sister,
Wearing her elegant gown,
Dancing with her charming mister,
Feeling like a princess in her crown.
There’s her father as he kneels,
Changing her sneakers into heels.
Maybe shedding a tear,
You won’t forget this year.
