I am a convict that sailed the seas,
I thought and l thought and I smelled the sea breeze.
I sailed the coast of dear Botany Bay,
And never did I think I would live to this day.
Us convicts we suffered on land and on sea,
We worked and we worked until we were free
The ships that carried us were once known to be;
The Charlotte, the Sirius, the Penrhyn and the Friendship,
The Prince, the Borrowdale, the Golden Grove and Supply,
The Alexander, the Fishburn and last of all, the Scarborough of the Atlantic seas.
So we lived in our own fair Australian land,
And though we cried and gave many a demand
We were stuck there forever more
Held back by the restrictive law
I am a convict that sailed the seas
I thought and I thought and I felt some ease.
