Scarlet Wonder

Memories flicker across
My mind like a T.V. screen,
But the resolution is never high enough
to make out the blurs,
That seem almost like daydreams;
Captivating and enticing
With everything I am.
With all the strength and the little dignity I have left,
I try to forget;
I try to unclasp the strings
That hold my neck.
In place,
I am imprisoned by the scarlet wonders
That enfold my veins
And I’m scared I’ll regret
What I’ll do next.
