//Around, all around this barren wasteland, the shadows gathered.
My dread grew as the stroke of death fell upon my head.
It mutilated me, and my essence dripped, darkly,
onto the wicked earth that is my prison.
In unholy terror, I hung my head
as Death took my unwilling hand.
Now alone, my cry of mercy fell upon darkened eyes.
I closed my eyes, never to be opened again.
I woke up all of a sudden,
relieved from my gloomy slumber.
Slowly getting to my feet,
I prepared for another frigid August day.
I remember frolicking to school,
ignoring glimpses of my origins as I went.
But only now, as I lay in my grave, do I realise,
I shouldn’t have gone.//
