I watched as light rose into the dull morning sky,
casting sunbeams that seep through gaps in each tree,
Chirping and whistling, it was like music to my ears,
A sign of tranquillity,
Every corner of the forest covered in the lush emerald green shades, scented fresh pine and pure water,
Your lifeless body is still,
Ivy climbs your limbs, tangling up your spine.
Fallen like a soldier, slayed beneath our feet,
The cycle of rebirth will make you as beautiful as you were,
But for now, we must remorse our choices, Choices of regret,
I run my hand down every curve,
Your skin crumbles and cracks underneath my soft touch,
Your decomposing body, so gentle and fragile,
What once was a towering figure, is now an earthly stump,
Your meaning will forever live on underneath the soil,
Your roots will curve unrestricted, endlessly engraved in my prayers.
