The night the girl fell from the sky,
A thousand blue birds with golden wings began to fight.
The old man on Crescent Lane stepped outside for the first time,
And a swarm of angry wasps took flight.
She wore a thin, pearl nightgown,
Soaked through with angel tears.
And the little boy who knelt beside her,
Began to sing of nightmares and fear.
But the chorus was rudely interrupted,
By a commotion across the street.
Where the old man stood in a blur of sunshine and darkness,
Screaming and kicking his feet.
The girl's eyelids suddenly fluttered open,
But only for a second or two.
Before everything disappeared again,
In a sea of golden and blue.
