Just a child

I remember when I was just a child
my days were young and free
And I was just a simple child
Yes, meek and mild was me
I loved my life at home with Mum
and time I spent at Nanna’s
And although I looked forward to Dad coming home
It didn’t really matter
And as I grew I heard them talk of wonderful days ahead
And I would fall asleep each night Tucked soundly in my bed.
But things began to change it seemed
and things went awfully wrong
And my world as I had known it
Began to lose its song
I yearn and long for days gone by when I was just a child
But I know for sure the days have passed
When I was meek and mild.
