I do not want to be in system where we write what the marker wants not what we think
Where originality is repressed until we all conform to the marking key
Key words shown to be more important than understanding,
Wrote learning encouraged, simple words that mean nothing.
Passions, now called distractions, we are told to put aside until we finish school
Until we break free of the binding conformity that teaches us to spout what we they tell us
Ask questions we are told to yet none that can challenge the the textbook
A new explanation they look at as wrong, not different
Indivuality in the sciences frowned upon, because it is a subject only two wavelengths hit.
Black and white.
And when someone walks in with a coloured torch it is extinguished before a change can be made
Before a new idea can evolve.
When the arts are seen as a subject where bodies speak not minds
Assumed that intellect is hidden amongst the folds of fabric and fluff
Yet the mind weaves the beautiful patterns of tapestry
And discipline and dedication are words common to those who pursue the idea
Of the pages of formulas and mathematical rhythms
