Violet

It has been recorded that under one percent of the world’s population embodies a beautiful colour in their eyes. At first glance, one would believe that it’s contacts that do the trick. There is no way someone can have such an ethereal look to their iris, right? Never before had I met someone with violet eyes. That was, until a few days ago.
It was overcast, the combination of greys and blues blending in with each other as they moved rapidly above me was calming. I wandered down the beach, enjoying the feeling of the cool sand sinking over my feet and in between my toes. The wind had gotten stronger than it was the hour before due to the oncoming storm, blowing so harshly I could barely hear the waves roughly crash onto the shore. As I looked down at my feet, I felt cold drops of water hit my bare arms. I continued on my walk, disregarding the precipitation. However, it began to get harder. I was soaked to the bone in a matter of minutes, shivering as the wind became rougher, almost pushing me over to one side. Keeping my balance, I tried my best to peer through the heavy sheets of water, attempting to find any place for shelter.
Just as I was about to turn around and walk back in hopes of finding where I began this walk in the first place, I noticed something in the ocean further down ahead of me. My eyes widened at the sight as I felt my heart drop. Without thinking, I stumbled over to the rough waters, forcing my way through in order to save whoever this person was. Their body matched the uneven movement of the waves, and I couldn’t help but think of the worst. As I finally reached them, the water was up above my chest, occasionally threatening to cover my face. Ignoring this fact, I looked down to see who the person was.
It was a boy who seemed to be around his mid-teens, staring calmly up at the sky as if he wasn’t in an immense amount of danger. I couldn’t help but take notice of his eyes in this life-threatening situation. They were a beautiful and bright violet, and it was as if they were glowing. It looked like someone had injected a fluorescent liquid right into his iris. I was bewildered. How was that possible?
I tried shouting over the deafening noise of the rain, but to no avail. Before I had a chance to grab his arm, he looked over at me. I didn’t have time to think about what was going on before I was pushed underneath the water. I tried to struggle, but my head soon hit something hard underneath me, and I was out like a light.
I am currently in the hospital and recording this information down. Why? Because that same guy that nearly drowned me is the same guy that’s treating me.
