Excellence Award in the 'Just Keep Writing 2019' competition
Down the hill, in a village,
Lived a little girl, cute and cuddly.
She had a pet cat, soft and fluffy.
Out in the backyard, in the shade of a Maple tree,
Played the girl and cat, chasing each other.
The girl stopped and sighed, "Oh, so cute and delicate!"
There lay a tiny bird, fretting and fluttering.
Injured it was, unable to fly.
"Come Mum, Come", the girl called her mum.
Looking with curiosity, mum walked to the girl.
She picked up the bird, mended it gently.
The girl set up a bird house.
With food and water, they fed it.
Tweet-Tweet, Tweet-Tweet, it sang happily.
As if it said "Thank you",
And away it flew, fluttering its wings.
