Hovering above the towering trees lived a possum,
Who loved observing Waratahs, as they elegantly blossom.
While vigilantly scanning across the bright azure sky,
Vast amounts of vermillion came plummeting by.
Slowly approaching in caution, preparing for retreat,
Realising the object was a succulent slice of meat.
Drawn to the stunning aroma brought by the bait,
The possum suddenly figures that it was all too late.
Fidgeting in the confined box, looking puzzled and agitated,
Attempting to crack the lock, but it was too complicated.
Endeavouring hard, to search an exit for escaping,
Before finding an opening and hastily gaping.
Celebrating excitedly with freedom finally at last,
As the possum impatiently bursts out onto the concrete path.
After scuttling towards the park for a quick roam,
The possum settles down and returns to his snug home.
