A Hero On The Corner

Heroes are all around us but in our oblivious fuss,
do we see not see ‘em or do we just ignore ‘em?
Who are our heroes? Do we know who they are?
The man on the corner, old mate on the street,
Doesn’t have a cape, yet doesn’t need a cape,
Or our shallow acceptance. Their will is their cause.
A hero’s will is just and fair, a hero helps those who are helpless.
He doesn’t rally for war. Still every day we pass them in scurry,
Absorbed in our own selfish desires,
As a hero sits on the corner.
With a watchful eye and caring heart,
He shines his light in the dark,
The salt of this world,
A hero on the corner.
