Boitumelo dreams, others tell her she’s a fool. You are a girl with no money, You will never go to school.
The girl that has a name that means joy, looks down at her hands, covered in dust.
Boitumelo had to go to school, she must!
So she went to her brother Sabra, then he said “Abracadabra!” Now you have the power to think outside the box. “Thankyou.” Then she went to her sister.
Imani was quiet and sweet, unlike Sabra who was loud and made friends on the street.
Imani loved her siblings with all of her heart, so gave Boitumelo a bermuda Buttercup. Boitumelo was confused, as these did not grow in their part of Africa. “This will give you hope and remind you of home and us.”
“Thankyou Imani. Thankyou Sabra” and then their whole family had a big hug.
Boitumelo had come so far. As she stood outside the University of Ghana, she ran back to give her family one last hug.
