Finalist in the 'Just Keep Writing 2019' competition
Golden sunlight pours warmth onto the emerald-green canopy,
Tropical butterflies of every colour flutter around,
Brown monkeys swing swiftly from one thorny vine to another,
Colour is alighting the forest.
The majestic, everlasting, silvery blue surface,
As spirited as the wind in a cyclone, blasting towards the shore,
Coral in every colour of the rainbow creating a beautiful display,
Colour is gushing through the reef.
The vast sky, painted a dazzling shade of electric blue,
Or as white as a swan’s elegant feathers,
The gleaming ball of fire, the star of the heavens,
Colour is pouring from the sky.
Colour resides everywhere, even in the darkest of times,
Bursts of happiness can sensationally fill you up,
Only if one bethinks to turn on the light,
Colour dwells everywhere.
