Swish swoosh, went the water, crystal clear at sunset. Me and my dad happily traipsed down the bank, going fishing at the Murray Darling Basin, finding a place to fish.
I looked in the river. Flippity flop! Flippity flop! I saw a fish dying! All the other fish were already dead. There was one alive! It was a golden perch! I got a bowl of water and I put it in to keep it alive.
At home, I found the right food for it, but I could only keep it alive for two months. I was so sad! I cried with desperation. But then…it came back alive! I was so happy! I put water in the river and put the fish in.
I raced home. Dad would be very mad I wasn’t home! “Where have you been?” said Dad.
“Ummm…saving the fish in the water as blue as the sky.”
“Why?”
“To save the fish as shimmery as stars!”
“Ohhhhhhh,” said Dad.
We sat together on the bank, watching the fish splash in the water once again.
