You Come Across A Rose

Petals glisten a vibrant red
As the early morning dew drops
Drip and sprinkle into the grass
Let yourself be captivated by the fragrance
Oh, how it smells of sweet dreams
Of kept promises and comforting smiles
Come close, closer, take hold of the rose
Grasp it tight, tighter, tighter
What if you never find another rose?
You will not leave,
When the petals begin to whither and curl,
The array of cuts and scratches, stinging
Clenched hands, grasping tighter, tighter
And you will let your blood drip a vibrant red
Onto the dying rose
