Step into the shadows, drift into the dark
In the middle of your sleep, dreams will spark.
Hazy yet serenely clear
Your deepest desires are drawn near.
Try as you might, to make them thrive
Your body seems to be barely alive.
As they slip away, far too soon
You hear the wind in the trees, it’s practically noon.
Embrace the morning, and the warmth of the sun
How much of the dream do you remember? Barely anything at all, perhaps none.
To catch the wisps of memories is a fickle thing
Practically impossible with the sound of birds chirping.
A surreal moment, lost within seconds
The brand-new day beckons.
Move with the morning, leap into the light
Forgetting everything from last night.
