Finalist in the 'Inspired 2019' competition
She scoots across the suspicious room, wonderful webs, glorious gloom.
To a cauldron dark, bubbly and round. Potion pot, sizzling sound.
Fiery flames on a frightful face, banana beak, veins of lace.
Eyes that hang out more than in. Saggy pout, craggy chin.
A toothless grin with gums of grey. Warts for plenty, hair like hay.
Hideous cape and pointed hat. Bristling broom, clawing cat.
Moulding morsels in the brew; lizard's legs, snail stew.
Incantations, spells and chants. Sinister songs, raving rants.
Sudden banging on the door. Angry villagers to settle a score.
She protests, they yell liar. Her final moments, led to a fire.
