Deep In The Soul Of A Sorrowful Man (sonnet)

Deep in the soul of a sorrowful man
Lies an ember of light, of hope and joy
Fearless in dark and through tempest withstand
Ignited to burn when he was but boy.
Yet with pain-stricken eyes and sallow cheeks
Love is shrouded in shadow and unknown
To his sore, blackened heart. Alone with grief
Whispering dark omens unto his bones.
‘Prithee let me go!’ he cries in anguish
But the mourning of his loss is no fool
Clinging like a child, never languish
Battling one’s self in an infinite duel
Though grief is the soil, from which he came,
Love’s burning brightly, an eternal flame
