The king and the queen and their kinsmen, must fight to the death on the board,
The battle of black and white charges, all but one will be put to the sword.
The knights will rear high on their horses, two white as snow, two black as the night,
Castles will be taken, clergyman slain, until one has claimed victories rite.
The foot soldiers, shiver and cower, for they cannot retreat from their stake,
For the gods from above have commanded, for now they fall all for victories sake.
The battle stretches on for hours, helpless and hopeless they wait,
For they must wait for the order be given, none have any choice in their fate.
For all the battles plans are tested, and the victor does not idly sit,
For its not a roll of the dice, or luck of the draw, this game is a battle of wit.
