Dawn rises,
In the alpenglow on the wild white peaks,
Through the shining eyes of dew on leaves,
And the frondescence of the waking plants;
The denouement of the night;
An ephemeral moment,
Caught in the liminal state between waking night and sleeping day,
The sun a solitary golden phosphene on the skyline,
Still pale and half-awake,
Its sunbeams only moonglades, stolen from the night;
The morning’s birds a syzygy of white and feuillemort,
The sky luminous with ethereal light,
A whole day still newly awake;
A daily serendipity.
And the aurora settles on the mountainside
To sleep the day away.
