I never got your ‘home safe’ text
But surely it can’t be true?
You always message that you’re home safe
I’m sure any second it’ll come through
If it doesn’t, then tell me… how can I
hug your grieving family knowing I’m the reason you died?
Sure, I didn’t crash the car
But I did hand your life to a stranger
Who couldn’t even walk straight
So of course he dropped it
when he hit the break a second too late.
In reality, I know that text will never come.
You’ve been dead for hours now
But I’ll keep calling your phone till my fingers go numb
Hoping you’ll pickup somehow.
