The darkness of the cool, damp night grew deep
Yet over the bodies were none to weep
Landscape painted red with men once strong willed
‘Twas death that was brought to the battle field
Time cannot tell, day the same as the night
As war continues through fading of light
Gunfire roaring amid debris falling
But for the dead, nobody is mourning
The vows that were spoken, death do us part
Soldiers whispering, starting to lose heart
Blood staining grass, streams running red
Yet over the bodies, no tear is shed
Landscape painted red with men once strong willed
‘Twas death that was brought to the battle field
