I am a child of the Tigrinya tribe.
Descendent of the land, like a ripe Beles
I am an ostrich, running swiftly on the surface.
Chanting our ancestors’ songs on our way to school.
My heart is the lands heart.
Children that play at the shore waiting to be called.
I am the sun, the wind, the trees, and the mountains.
I am one of the pieces that conclude the jigsaw of this country.
Green as grass that the animals of the land eat.
I am Kelpie, Hyena and lion that roars.
Through the high-top trees of the jungle, to the children playing in the village and the busy cars on the streets.
I awakened here when the earth was new.
There was ostrich, lion, and peace on the land.
No other man of a different hue, we accepted they betrayed.
I am this land and
This land is me.
I am Eritrean.
