I am being swallowed up by the darkness,
I lay on my back feeling carpet through my fingers.
I watch the fan spin, feel the cool air on my face,
Tick, tick, tick complains the clock as time stretches on.
The tears silently glide down my cheeks,
Traffic buzzes like a bee outside my window.
The loneliness surrounds me like a cage,
I am a lone shell on an empty beach.
The shadows smirk at me,
Looking like taunting faces from the past.
My breathing stutters through all the sobs,
Sadness sinks like a ship in my soul.
Then suddenly the dark flashes to light,
As my darling mother creaks open the door.
I snuggle in to the ever-warm embrace,
My feelings melt as I know this is home.
